MARK Molesley praised an improved second-half display from Weymouth as they came from a goal down to beat Hendon 3-2 in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.
Hendon had taken the lead through Matty Harriott in the first half, but goals from Jordan Ngalo, Brandon Goodship and Jake McCarthy in 13 second half minutes saw his side take their third victory on the bounce.
Molesley referenced the 3G surface at the Silver Jubillee Park, but was happy to see his side recover in time.
He said: “It was a much-improved second-half performance, it was a good reaction from the boys. We got a little bit more to grips with them, the surface and the environment. It took us a little bit too long to get accustomed to a few bits but luckily we got it together in the nick of time.
“From our standards we need to start a little bit brighter, a little bit better.
“It was difficult, the surface was different to the astro turfs we play on and it was very lively, very bobbly and we played into their hands a little bit in the first half.
“We assessed it, made a few tweaks (at half-time), the boys really took on the information and they had a great second half.”
Molesley also praised the work of Weymouth substitute Ngalo who thundered in the Weymouth equaliser after he came on as a replacement alongside Josh Wakefield and Ashley Wells, the latter making his 300th appearance for the club.
He said: “Jordan, who came on at half-time had a big impact. I think he was in good form before he got injured.
“He picked up the baton and did really well for us in the second half. It was a big plus for us to one, have him back fit, and two, for him to have the impact he did in that second half.
“It is a squad game, it is not just the team that starts, it is the team that finishes.
“Everyone has got such an important part to play for this season.
“We are going to need every single person firing on all four cylinders and all pushing in the right direction.”
