WEYMOUTH Under-10 girls stormed to a dramatic victory in the Crediton Football Club annual six-a-side tournament.

While the England lionesses commenced their World Cup campaign, the Weymouth girls travelled to Devon to compete against nine other girls’ teams from Bristol, Exeter and around Devon.

Weymouth performed well in the group stages, qualifying for the quarter-finals as winners.

Victories in the quarters and semis followed before a final clash with Central Wildcats.

With the match delicately poised with a draw in the 89th minute, Weymouth scored twice late on to secure a memorable win and the silverware.

Weymouth won all seven games scoring 27 goals and only conceded three in the whole tournament. Coaches Darren Faulkner and Ian Woolnough were immensely proud of the team they took that day, comprising of Lila, Kiara, Izzy, Hannah, Courtney, Michaela, Julia and Tamika.
