Weymouth travel to Kent for a clash with fellow newly-promoted side Tonbridge Angels on Saturday. Our hosts won the Step 3 Super Play-Offs last season to gain promotion, beating Met Police in the Super Final.

Tonbridge, much like The Terras, had a difficult August Bank Holiday weekend with two tough games against Havant & Waterlooville and Welling Utd. This resulted in two defeats for The Angels over the weekend, losing 3-1 at home to Havant and 4-2 away at Welling. They have had one win at home this season, a 1-0 victory over Concord Rangers. They currently sit on four points with their other point so far this campaign coming after a 0-0 draw at Bath City.

As for Mark Molesley’s Terras, it was two defeats and the first two defeats in 5 months over the Bank Holiday Weekend, however unfortunate they might have been. The Terras were not at their best at Chippenham, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat, despite this, Weymouth had many opportunities to grab a result. Meanwhile, the Bank Holiday Monday fixture at the Bob Lucas Stadium was an absolute thriller. The Terras suffered late heartache on this occasion as Wealdstone grabbed a 4-3 win in what was a pulsating afternoon. Many Terras supporters walked out of the Bob Lucas Stadium saying that Wealdstone were the best team they had seen in a long time, and the Stones seem certain to be fighting up the top end of the table later on in the season if the evidence of Monday was anything to go by. The result ended up being unfortunate for Weymouth but they can take much heart from the fact that at many points throughout the clash, they more than matched their very strong and well-established opponents.

Terras Full Squad: Ward, Childs, Rees, Wells, Harfield, Zubar, Buckley, Brooks, Rose, Wakefield, Ngalo, McCarthy, Baggie, Murray, Odubade, Robinson, Hoey, Thomson, Williams

Thoughts from the gaffer, Mark Molesley

“It has been a positive start to life in the National League South but we cannot rest on our laurels, we have got to continue to improve because otherwise, this league will leave you behind and as I said we cannot get too down. We have got to keep believing in ourselves.”
