Weymouth Football Club can confirm that Manager Mark Molesley has left the club to join League 2 club Southend United.

Mark took over as manager of the club in April 2017 after a spell as a player and player/coach. He has always combined his role at Weymouth with his job at AFC Bournemouth since taking the position at the Terras.

In his time with the club, Mark has taken us to levels we have not reached in over a decade and we will be forever grateful to him for taking the club back to where we belong.

In his first full season, Mark guided the club to the Southern League Playoffs, in his second season, he won the Southern League and in what has turned out to be his final season at the club, Mark and his team have won back to back promotion, taking us to the top level of Non-League football for the first time in eleven years.

Mark Molesley leaves our club as a legend, and most importantly of all, he leaves the club in a fantastic position; a position which was unimaginable when he took control just over 3 years ago.

Mark is leaving us, we cannot pretend to not be disappointed by the news, but as Mark has always said himself, there is no time to dwell and as a club we must focus on what comes next and embark on our new challenge back in the Vanarama National League.

Finally, we would like to thank Mark for his efforts as manager of our club.

The board of directors will look to continue the excellent work in preparation of this exciting new season in the Vanarama National League. Plans for the new season are already well underway and we have already started to receive applicants for the managerial role.

There will be an announcement later today to announce our plans for a temporary management structure at Weymouth Football Club.
