We caught up with Jack Hoey after the forward penned an extension at the Terras ahead of our return to the Vanarama National League.
uptheterras.co.uk: Jack, you’ve signed for the Terras for another season. You must be looking forward to showing what you can do after a frustrating season with injury?
Jack Hoey: Yes, very happy to sign again! Last season didn’t go to plan for me personally because of injuries, but as a team, we had a great season and hopefully, we can go again this season with myself a lot more involved.
uptheterras.co.uk: You made an impact in every game you featured in. Just on last season, what a season for the club! Is it fair to say your goal against Maidstone was a personal highlight?
JH: Yes definitely achieving promotion was the best feeling! I think having struggled with an injury which kept me out for so long, it was a great feeling to finally get out on the pitch and score my first goal!
uptheterras.co.uk: We’ve heard some people say you are the best natural finisher at the club since Brandon Goodship. That’s some comparison!
JH: Finishing is an important part of my game and it’s something I’ve always worked on. It’s nice to hear comments of that sort because obviously Brandon was a huge part to the success Weymouth have had, scoring so many goals before moving back into the professional game.
uptheterras.co.uk: The injuries you had last season were very unlucky. Do you think it’s fair to say that once you hit the ground running, there is a lot more to come from Jack Hoey?
JH: It was a tough season for me last season but I am feeling good about the upcoming season! I’m looking forward to being able to showcase more of myself. There is more to come from me!
