The Terras are back in Cup action this weekend as they face Darlington in the FA Trophy.
Brian Stock’s side have had over a week to lick their wounds following their 3-0 defeat to rivals Yeovil Town. On Friday afternoon, Weymouth announced two new defensive signings, available to play tomorrow. Highly rated Aston Villa defender Dominic Revan was the first to be announced. The youngster comes on loan and captained the Premier League side against Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane in the Villains FA Cup tie against Liverpool last week.
The other signing, Jacob Mensah, was formerly on the books of Crystal Palace and at the age of 20 has non league experience with Ramsgate.
The Terras last win was their victory in the last stage of this tournament, a 3-2 victory over Maidenhead United.
Darlington make the 700 mile round trip to face the Terras, the side currently ply their trade in the National League North. The Quakers sit 19th, and have lost their last 2 fixtures against Brackley Town and Farsley Celtic. Their last victory was a 6-0 win against Blyth Spartans just after Christmas so the side have goals in their ranks.
The side have Jamaican international Omar Holness at their disposal. The midfielder has previously played for MLS side Real Salt Lake. Erico Sousa has scored 4 goals in 9 games so far this season. At the back for the side is Nicky Hunt. The experienced defender has played for a host of football league sides including Birmingham City and Derby County.
The Quakers got through to this round by defeating AFC Telford United on penalties following a 2-2 final score result.
Thoughts from the manager
Stock knew what he was getting from new signing Revan, watching the defender play against Liverpool. He described his play as “strong, quick and athletic.”
Stock spoke to Echo Sport earlier this week and the manager was treating this game like any other. “Although we divert from the league, the same things apply” the boss said
