Two second half goals were enough for Wrexham to take 3 points from the Terras at the Racecourse ground on Saturday afternoon.
When the sides last met earlier this season at the Bob Lucas Stadium, the Terras forfeit a 2 goal lead, eventually losing 3-2 deep into added time.
Wrexham were looking dangerous in the opening moments, and came close in the 9th minute. Luke Young delivered a set piece from the left into the box. Jake McCarthy and Theo Vassell were jostling for the ball in front of the goal, the former getting the slightest of touches to clear the ball over the bar. The latter, however, was adjudged to have been offside.
Weymouth were building their attacks during the game, and looked to provide a strong attack in the 15th minute. Andy Dallas moved the ball into the penalty area. The in form striker was brought down by Kelleher, but the defender won the ball and gave the Terras a corner.
Wrexham had the next chance 5 minutes later. Elliot Durrell struck the ball from outside the area. The shot was blocked by the back of Jacob Mensah only to come back out to the Wrexham number 7. Durrell snatched at his second shot, going well right of Ethan Ross’ goal.
2 Minutes later, Ross was called into action. Another set piece from Young in a similar area than his free kick in the opening moments was directed at Ross’ near post. The ball curved over the one man wall and Ross did well to get down to his near post to parry away the shot.
Wrexham had another effort in the 36th minute following a corner routine. A short corner came out to Durrell who whipped the ball in with his right boot. The ball went to the back post where Davies struck the shot on the volley. Fortunately for the Terras the chance was blocked due to the crowded area.
Weymouths first effort on target came in the 38th minute. Ollie Harfield crossed the ball with his left foot from a set piece. The ball curved toward Josh McQuoid, who headed it goal bound at his near post. Dibble was able to parry the ball out for a corner.
The home side were moving the ball around quickly following the resumption of the game after half time. Jamie Reckord picked up the ball from the left. The full back came into the right before driving a low shot on target, matched by Ross who got down to his right to save the attempt.
The Upright was smashed in the 62nd minute. Davies played a ball down the left Channel for Dior Angus. The striker ran on with it into the area and fired a shot with his left. The powerful effort went over Ross but ricocheted off the crossbar.
A triple substitution was made by Wrexham a minute later.
Wrexham took the lead in the 66th minute. Following a failed penalty appeal by the Homeside, they capitalised from the following corner. Reckord crossed the ball in and Theo Vassell rose to head the ball beyond Ethan Ross. The strikers third goal against the Terras this season.
Six Minutes later, the Red Dragons struck the post from a corner. Kwame Thomas headed the ball against the wrong side of the post following a deep corner.
Stock changed his formation in the 73rd minute after he brought on Ben Thomson for Pierre Fonkeu.
Wrexham doubled the lead in the 79th minute. Reckord headed the ball down from the left. Jarvis latched onto the ball, and took a shot on with his left. The ball went across goal and was turned in by substitute Pontecelli, who was in space yards from the goal line.
Little occurred for either side in the final stages, and Wrexham saw the game out to win 2-0.
