A Calvin Brooks goal and an Ethan Ross penalty save saw the Terras claim 3 points against Maidenhead United away at York Road. This was their third win against the Magpies this season.
New signing Ben Worman gave the Terras a glimpse of his ability in just the 5th minute. Ollie Harfield’s cross from the left was met by the debutant in the area. However, the shot bounced and went right past the post.
Dan Sparkes came close to putting the home side in the lead, but his free-kick from the right side with his left foot went just over Ethan Ross’ crossbar.
The Magpies struck the post in the 26th minute. Josh Coley dribbled around the Terras defence before he threaded the ball through to Danilo Orsi. The striker, who has netted against the Terras in games earlier this season, hit the ball with his right foot. The ball bobbled before ricocheting against the post, with the Terras able to clear.
The terras took the lead on the half-hour mark. A fast counter-attack saw Sean Shields cut in, where he delivered a cross, deep to the far post. Right-back Calvin Brooks had a forward run into the area and met the ball at the back post beyond the outstretching gloves of the goalkeeper to tap the ball in.
9 minutes later, somehow, the Terras didn’t get their second. Brennan Camp pounced with a strike from a cross to the back post. The Bournemouth loanee’s shot was deflected, from yards out, up onto the crossbar. The ball fell back down for Brooks but he was denied his brace as his shot from yards out went wide across the goal beyond any Terras players.
Maidenhead looked sharp straight after half time as they were looking at building a comeback. Ince unleashed a shot with his right just outside the area but it was straight at the focused Ross who parried the ball away from danger.
The Terras found their feet and had another chance to make it 2-0 in the 53rd minute. Ben Thomson was released down the right-wing and battled hard against his marker to carry the ball into the box. The striker put a cross into the area but the ball was headed out and into the path of Jake McCarthy who met the ball on the volley with his left boot. The shot struck a Maidenhead defender in the face and play was stopped for treatment.
Josh Kelly had the next effort for the Magpies. The substitute connected with a cross from the right but Ross was there to save the ball, yards from goal.
In the 79th minute, Twumasi saw red when he confronted Camp as the Terras defender made a heavy challenge
Maidenhead were inches from making it level as Sheckleford’s ball across the box was flicked on by Orsi and substitute Wiltshire struck from metres away went over the bar.
Kelly was on the breakaway and was brought down in the penalty area by Jacob Mensah in the 85th minute. Orsi stepped up to take the kick but Ross got down quickly to his right to deflect the ball away with his palm. The ball fell into the path of Sparkes but Andreas Robinson came in late to slide the ball away from danger.
5 minutes of added time was not enough for Maidenhead United to find an equaliser. The Terras were triumphant with a 1-0 win.
