After four seasons at the Bob Lucas Stadium, our skipper Josh McQuoid has departed the club to pursue a new opportunity.

Josh McQuoid joined the club in 2018 following his release from Aldershot Town and became club captain under Mark Molesley in 2019.

Josh made a total of 113 appearances for Weymouth, 99 of which he started. During his time at the club, Josh scored 28 goals and registered 13 assists. McQuoid was part of our back-to-back promotion winning sides which saw our return to the National League for the first time in 11 years. He finished this season as our top scorer with 9 goals in all competitions.

David Oldfield: “I would like to put on record our thanks and best wishes to Josh. He is out of contract and is exercising his right to move on. We spoke about a new contract offer here but his decision is to leave, which we respect. Josh has been a standout character for Weymouth FC. As the captain, leader and goalscorer, he maintained his professionalism throughout the previous difficult season. He has had success in his time here, is highly regarded by both fans and everyone at the club and we wish him the very best for the future.”

Chairman Ian White: “It has been a pleasure to have Josh with us on our amazing journey from the Southern Premier to the National League. He will be missed by us all but we wish him the very best for whatever he does next.”

Everyone at Weymouth Football Club would like to wish Josh and his family all the best for the future and thank him for his fantastic contribution in a Terras shirt.
