Match Preview: Chippenham Town (A) – Saturday 14th January 2023 – 15:00

The Terras travel to Wiltshire tomorrow to face Chippenham Town at The TS Stadium.

MANAGER NOTES

The thoughts of manager Bobby Wilkinson ahead of tomorrow:

“Tomorrow is a big game for both teams, but it won’t define the season. We’re going there to get three points, but there are 66 points up for grabs. There’s a long long way to go, 22 games to play as well. Chippenham are in great form. We were in great form also, but now we have to go there and compete and do well.”

HISTORY OF THE FIXTURE

@TerraStatman’s Facts of the Match:

This weekend marks our 50th meeting in all competitions against the Bluebirds and our first encounter since the 2019/20 National League South playoff winning campaign. In that truncated-by-a-pandemic-based-season, we only played the Wiltshire side the once away in August when we fell to a 0-1 loss, the all important goal scored just before the interval. The only player from that match who is still in the Weymouth squad now is Cam Murray.

To find our last win at The TS Stadium (Hardenhuish Park) we have to go back to another three visits to September 2014 when a Tim Sills brace and a Stewart Yetton strike ensured we took all three points back to the south coast.

There will be a few familiar faces for both sets of fans, with a number of players that have turned out for both teams in recent years. In the Terras squad Brad Ash & Matt Buse both played in blue in their past, whilst former Terra Alefe Santos will probably be in the starting lineup for the hosts. Our goalkeeping coach and Weymouth legend Jason Matthews has also played and coached at both sides.
