Duncan Gardner shares his Facts of the Match ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s away fixture against Braintree Town.

On paper, the Terras face a difficult trip to the unbeaten-at-home-based-outfit but luckily for us games are played on grass and not paper. We can also point to the face that we actually have the chance to do the double over our Essex hosts following a 1-0 win in Dorset back in November. On that occasion Dan Matsuzaka scored the only goal of the game from a Josh Oyinsan assist with just nine minutes of normal time remaining.
Purely by coincidence, both men also played for Braintree earlier in their careers and at the same time in late 2019 to early 2020! Before this season, the last time we played Braintree was in February 2020 in the National League South. Dan played against us that day in the starting lineup, but by that time Josh had moved on to pastures new at Royston Town. However, they are not the only recent Terras players to also play for the Iron. Another of this season’s players, Michael Dome-Bemwin had a stint at Cressing Road. Looking slightly back in time Taofiq Olomowewe, Ross Fitzsimons and Brandon Goodship also all had short spells there.
We are defending a three game unbeaten run against Braintree with two clean sheet wins being the bread of a 1-1 draw sandwich, our last loss being the memorable barnstorming 3-5 FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie back in 2014.
