Weymouth Football Club can confirm the signing of 21 year old defender Anthony Cheshire and becomes the clubs 6th permanent summer signing and the clubs second of the day.

Cheshire came through the Swindon youth set up before moving to Bracknell Town. Where he put in a Man Of The Match performance in their FA Cup game against League One side Ipswich.

Speaking about the signing manager Bobby Wilkinson “having worked with Chesh prior, I can’t wait to work with him again.”

“He’s a fantastic defender having been at Swindon he’s got some great experience at a young age.”

Cheshire on his move to Weymouth said it was a conversation with the manager that convinced him to join: “When Bobby told me about the project he was building and the ambitions the club has, I just knew I had to be a part of it.”

The young defender continued his excitement having said “It was an opportunity I just couldn’t refuse, to be able to play for a club the size of Weymouth and link up with my old gaffer, someone who I’ve learnt so much from already, it was just a no brainer for me.”
