Farnborough Vs Weymouth
National League South, Saunders Transport Community Stadium, Saturday 15 February, 3PM
Looking forward to today, Terras fans?
After Tuesday’s disappointing result at home to Bath City, we have the chance to put things right this afternoon away to Farnborough.
The Hampshire side, still led by Spencer Day, were in a slightly better position the last time this fixture played, sitting in top spot.
This time round, however, they are 12 places below and 12 points off the play-off places.
It’s fair to say that both sides have a point to prove this afternoon.

LAST TIME ROUND
If we want past results to help us persevere to victory today, we will not need to look too far, with this contest last being played the weekend before Halloween.
If our season has been spooky, less could be said for our performance, and result, on that day.
The two sides’ form could not have contrasted heavier, Boro boasting top spot with 26 points and eight wins in 13 league games.
All whilst also having scored 22 goals, too, the joint-second most in the league at time.
We, on the other hand, weren’t doing as well.
Surprisingly.
It’s hard to remember when we weren’t at the foot of the table; before we lined up against Spencer Day’s side we were in that unwanted position, eight points off safety.
So with 23 places between us before kick-off, one could be forgiven for predicting an unfavourable scoreline at our expense – even we knew we were playing a side “in top form.”
Yet we came out all guns blazing, threatening first in the 11th minute.
The game itself was an entertaining one, both sides having several chances, as we entered the break level.
However, as we have usually seen this season, our hard work came undone when the visitors took the lead, when Joe Haigh fired a thunderous strike into the top-left corner.
But then, with eight minutes of regular time remaining, Jordon Thompson headed beyond Jack Turner to salvage a crucial point for The Terras.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Having faced Farnborough only 18 times in our history, this fixture is in the process of creating history.
But as of right now, it’s the Hampshire side with significantly more bragging rights, winning twice as many games with 10.
Though if it’s any team that knows how to win a crucial match versus The Yellows, it’s the mighty Terras.
Although Boro had promotion plans of their own when they came here last season, we would have similar hopes five years beforehand, only further in the driver’s seat as we needed just one win to crown ourselves Southern League Premier Division South.
With Taunton Town breathing down our neck, we needed to deliver a perfect performance to take us up to the National League South.
We did.
You won’t need any more of a reminder of how well we played; our 3-0 win crowned us champions.
A certain Brandon Goodship scored in that game; he would later tell us that this was his favourite career goal so far!
