Weymouth Vs Slough Town
National League South, Bob Lucas Stadium, Saturday 29 March, 3PM
Looking forward to today, Terras fans?
If the answer was no, it would be understandable – a loss, alongside wins from Enfield Town and Salisbury, would see us mathematically relegated to the Southern Premier League Division One South.
Quite the climax for what has been an extraordinarily difficult season.
This unwanted outcome would also see us suffer relegation in March for the first time in our history – maybe not the record we want, but a record is a record nonetheless!
But, despite this potential outcome, it is, believe it or not, not all doom and gloom.
Tuesday evening saw us collect our 26th Dorset Senior Cup, following a 2-1 victory against Hamworthy Recreation at the County Ground.
Take that Real Madrid – you only have 15 Champions Leagues!
As Warren Feeney said, “cups are about winning,” and now we can hopefully “head in the right direction,” and against a Slough Town side who have only beaten us once since 2017, anything is possible…

PREVIOUS RESULTS…
Overall, our record versus Slough is worth boasting, having beaten them eight times to their five.
Though the most recent result between the sides came on the final day of August this season, where a single strike from The Rebels inflicted us to our fifth loss in five games, as we were already bottom of the table.
Keep in mind, we had only played five league games by that point.
In terms of our victories, the most recent came the last time we faced the Berkshire boys at the Bob Lucas Stadium, on a day where our then-loanees stole the show in January last year
Besides a typical strike from goal-machine Brandon Goodship, Alfie Rutherford and Harry Parsons netted either side, the latter finding the top corner from outside the box late in the second half.
The year before, The Rebels were the last team to face us at The Bob Lucas Stadium that season.
Fighting to stay in the league, we were in the middle of our famous Great Escape!
Our super skipper Tom Bearwish gave us the lead in the first half with a penalty, before Bradley Ash sealed the points.
Without that emphatic performance, we may not be facing The Rebels today.
TODAY…
As we know, a similarly-crucial performance today is much needed.
Lying 13 points off safety with just six games to go, time is running out for The Terras.
The two final current safe teams, Enfield Town and Salisbury, both play at home to Chippenham Town and Tonbridge Angels – if they win, and we lose, relegation is confirmed.
This outcome would also see us suffer relegation in March for the very first time – perhaps not a record we want to see.
Right now, as Warren said, the most important thing is that we “finish the season as strongly as possible.”
