Eastbourne Borough Vs Weymouth
National League South, Priory Lane, Saturday 5 April, 3PM
Looking forward to today, Terras fans?
After our 4-0 victory versus Slough Town, our National League South status is secured.
For another week at least…
Today we take on promotion-hopefuls Eastbourne Borough, who sit fifth in the National League South, just five points off table-toppers Worthing.
The Sports’ frontline are led by George Alexander, the league’s top scorer with 20 goals, who spent two months on loan under a Warren Feeney-led Welling United.
Should Feeney’s former marksman make the difference today, and ensure a loss for us, this could have worrying consequences for our season.
If we don’t win, alongside an Enfield Town win and Salisbury draw, our relegation is mathematically confirmed…
HOW TO FOLLOW…

THE OPPOSITION…
Formed in 1964, the club was initially known as Langney FC, and then Langney Sports, for nearly four decades – hence their nickname!
Their time as their former name saw them climb up three divisions in 17 years, after joining the Sussex County league in 1983 as one of its founding members.
Not bad for a side who, according to FA officials, were a mere “parks team.”
They have, though, had less luck with promotion efforts since earning a place in England’s sixth tier for the first time two decades ago.
Besides a three-year period spent in the then-Conference National between 2008 and 2011, The Sports have spent much of their subsequent time in this division bouncing around mid-table.
However, if there’s any team to feel particularly aggrieved by the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s the East-Sussex side.
A third-place position was ultimately put into lockdown with an early cancellation of the campaign.
However, this season could finally see luck go their way.
Following a 19th-placed finish last season, few could have expected a side who finished below us to challenge for promotion.
But, under Adam Murray, they have done just that.
With 21 wins and 75 points in 41 games, The Sports sit just five points off table-toppers Worthing.
Their recent form is proof of their stellar season, their 13 points in their last six league games being bettered by only two other sides.
They also have this season’s current top-scorer in George Alexander, a firing forward briefly managed by Feeney during his two-month loan spell at Welling United in 2023.
It’s fair to say that today will be a tough game.
