Maidstone United Vs Weymouth
National League South, Gallagher Stadium, Saturday 12 April, 3PM
How are we feeling, Terras fans?
Following last week’s 4-1 loss away to Eastbourne Borough, our relegation to the Southern Premier League was mathematically confirmed.
Perhaps a status that we were all anticipating, after a very difficult season.
Moving on, our first game as a future seventh-division side takes place in Kent, away to promotion-hopefuls Maidstone United, perhaps a team we may not want to face currently.
Led by ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers defender George Elokobi, “The Stones” are in fine form, winning three of their last four games.
They also boast the meanest defence, conceding just 35 goals all season, even less than table-toppers Dorking Wanderers.

HEAD-TO-HEAD…
Having only played today’s opponents five times, this is hardly a fixture rich in history.
However, our two wins suggest somewhat of a decent record.
We won this contest’s first two fixtures, the most recent being in February 2020, one of our final games before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The game itself was an impressive 5-1 thrashing on our home turf, Calvin Brooks scoring the first goal in only the third minute.
This was a campaign that saw a second promotion in as many seasons, as we headed up from the National League South.
However, this year tells a different story, with today’s game being the first since we were confirmed to be heading down from the same league.
While The Stone finished 9th at the “end” of this premature campaign, this season sees them performing a little better.
In seventh-place, and just seven points off table-toppers Dorking Wanderers, the Kent outfit are pushing for promotion.
Worryingly, they have the best defence in the league, conceding just 35, three less than the league-leaders.
Today’s opponents were in fine form last time we met, winning eight in their previous 10 before they inflicted us a narrow 1-0 defeat on our turf.
Worryingly, they have appeared to pick up form at the wrong time once again – following just two wins in six games, Elokobi’s side have won three out of their last four.
Perhaps The Stones can get satisfaction after all…
