WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley feels there is enough in his squad to improve on last season, despite their impressive return of fifth place and 97 points in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.
The Terras have had a difficult pre-season where they took just one win, a 3-1 victory at home against Kingstonian and Molesley admits he has not seen it quite click yet.
“I feel like we have got enough there to improve on last season but it is going to take some going.
It was an impressive points return last season and that is the challenge now.
“We will work on a few things in training this week and make sure we are fit and raring to go for Saturday”
When asked if he had got what he wanted from pre-season, Molesley admitted he had not quite seen it click yet.
Molesley responded: “Physically yes, performance-wise we have not seen it quite click yet.
“I have been in pre-seasons where we have won every game and the start of the season did not go too well and I have been in pre-seasons on the flip side.
“So I do not think you can read too much into it at the moment but obviously as a manager, as staff, we are looking for signs.
“We have seen some good signs but we have also seen some areas for improvement so, all in all, I think that is what you need to get out of pre-season.
Molesley is pleased that the squad have kept their nature, despite their numerous additions over the summer.
Molesley said: “The group is quite a tight-knit group now, we had quite a small squad last year but a quality squad I feel like we have still kept that.
Molesley admitted that their performances from last season have added a bit of pressure on the squad, with Weymouth looking to replicate their success.
Molesley said: “Last season is gone, that is done and dusted, if anything we have just added a bit more pressure on ourselves.
“We are going to deal with it each game as it comes, same adage as last season, try and work as hard as we can to do the best we can.”
