WEYMOUTH player-manager Jason Matthews remains confident that his Terras’ troops can sneak into the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division play-offs at just the right time this term.
The Terras go in search of three wins on the spin when they travel to bottom-club Bideford this evening (7.45pm), a game which marks the start of four league fixtures on the road.
And while Matthews realises that a difficult quartet of fixtures, starting with the Robins, now awaits his side, he is confident of staying in the hunt for the top five.
He told Echosport: “We have four away games in a row now and, for me personally, we need to come back with a good points total from them. If we do we are right back in the mix.
“One team always comes out of the pack every year and makes the play-offs in different leagues. Why can’t that be us this season? That’s what the boys have to ask themselves.
“I need everybody to give me everything, a little bit like the second half on Saturday. We probably didn’t win with our prettiest football of the season but, at the end of the day, we ground out the result.”
Jake Wannell is set to come back into the fold tonight after illness kept him out on Saturday. Calvin Brooks is in contention to make his return.
On tonight’s clash, Matthews added: “Bideford probably haven’t got the resources of most of the clubs in the league but they have a good manager in Sean Joyce and I know he will make it incredibly difficult for us to beat them there.
“We know we need to get at Bideford, put them under pressure and make it a hard night for them at home. It’s a long night there if you don’t do the horrible things right.”
