WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley described his side’s 1-0 friendly win at Taunton Town as a “worthwhile exercise”.
The visitors sealed the game just before half-time in Somerset when Charlie Davis struck the only goal of the clash against the Southern League South & West opposition, who went down to 10 men in the second half.
And, with more match minutes in the bank for his squad, the Weymouth boss was pleased with the night’s work.
He told Echosport: “It was a great challenge for us against good opposition in Taunton, who are a big, strong, physical side and we were pleased to get that challenge.
“They tested us in a variety of ways, which we had to stand up to and be strong to deal with and I thought we did that.
“We wanted challenges and we certainly got one from a good Taunton outfit.”
He added: “There are certainly some pleasing bits and some bits to work on as well, so it was very worthwhile exercise for us.”
The skipper’s armband was also once again given to a new member of the squad against the Peacocks with striker Brandon Goodship taking the captaincy on this occasion.
