JASON Matthews said his Weymouth side performed professionally as they advanced in the Dorset Senior Cup with a 3-1 win over Verwood Town, mainly thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Sam Jordan.
The striker scored within 10 minutes before adding another midway through the first period. He then tapped in just before half-time to kill the game off.
The hosts did get one back late on but, the Terras were able to shut the game down and seal their place in the second round where they will take on Sherborne Town.
After the game, Jason Matthews told Echosport: “It was a potential banana skin but, I thought the boys put on a professional performance so I’m really pleased.
“It was a good night and it gave us a chance to have a look at a couple of triallists and get Aaron Rodriguez back on the pitch. There were quite a few plus points from the game.”
He added: “Sam was another plus point. He played 90 minutes and got his goals.”
