An incredible 8 goal blitz in 15 first-half minutes sent an absolutely rampant Weymouth on their way to a huge victory at Broadstone, in which they took an 11 goal lead into the halftime break.

The Terras came into the clash missing several regular players. Sophie Webber-Green, Kristina Manktelow, Cimon Barnard-Irons, and Emma Potter all missed out through injury and illness, although Weymouth did welcome debutant Jodie Sapsford into the fold.

Despite being depleted, the Terras wasted no time in asserting their authority on proceedings. It took them just 5 minutes to open the scoring when Charlie Wilson sent Dani Ackerman down the wing. She skipped away from the full-back before cutting inside and rifling the ball into the roof of the net from an acute angle.

Just 5 minutes later Wilson turned from provider to goalscorer as she hit a powerful strike from all of 30 yards which flew into the top left corner of the net to have the Terras 2-0 to the good in the first ten minutes.

Wilson saw a header from a Beasley corner well saved by the home goalkeeper, before the avalanche of goals really got going.

On 21 minutes Dani Ackerman again beat the full-back for pace, got to the byline and pulled it back for Shakira Howard who hit it first time into the bottom corner from the edge of the six-yard box.

Less than a minute later Lily Beasley got in on the act. Weymouth won possession back from the restart and Wilson found Beasley in acres of space. She let fly into the top corner from 25 yards to make it 4-0.

Just two minutes later, player-manager Tasha Sibley got her name on the scoresheet, as a flowing move led to Shakira Howard squaring it across the box for Sibley to tuck it home.

The Terras were running riot, and it didn’t take long for goal number 6 to arrive, as another brilliant passing move ended up with Howard laying the ball off for Naomi Johnson who made no mistake from inside the box.

Just a minute later, Ackerman had her second of the afternoon. She was played in by Sapsford and managed to beat several home defenders before lashing the ball into the far corner to make it 7-0 after just 29 minutes.

And there was no let-up from the Terras, as just 3 minutes later Johnson also had her second – latching onto a brilliant through ball from Kayleigh Whiting before rounding the goalkeeper and rolling it into the unguarded net.

Lily Beasley then got her second of the day. Her first effort was well saved but she tucked away the rebound from close range to make it 9-0.

Less than a minute later, Ackerman had her second hattrick in just her third appearance, as she effortlessly glided past several Broadstone defenders before finishing well into the bottom corner to make it 10-0 after just 35 minutes.

Weymouth continued to push for more goals. Beth Barnard-Irons saw a stinging effort brilliantly tipped over the bar by the goalkeeper, before Weymouth were awarded a spot-kick for a handball from the resulting corner.

Ashleigh Taylor was given the opportunity to get her first goal for the club, but she put the penalty just wide of the right-hand post.

But she made up for it right on the stroke of halftime, as she arrived at the back post to slot home Ackerman’s corner to send Weymouth into the break 11-0 up.

Credit to Broadstone who didn’t throw in the towel at halftime and they came out for the second half with their heads up and ready to give their all.

Shakira Howard and Lily Beasley both headed over the bar early in the second half, before Charlie Wilson curled a lovely strike in from the edge of the box on 50 minutes.

Two minutes later she headed Beasley’s corner wide of the mark, but she joined Ackerman in the hattrick club on 57 minutes and she latched onto Kayleigh Whiting’s free-kick and roller it under the goalkeeper one on one to make it 13-0.

Weymouth did take their foot off the gas a little in the final half an hour, although they were still trying to score. Shakira Howard saw a powerful strike blocked on the line and onto the post, Lily Beasley saw a stinging strike palmed away, and Ackerman forced the goalkeeper into a smart save at her near post.

On 78 minutes goal 14 arrived, and it was a debut goal for Jodie Sapsford. Johnson crossed it across the box and she fired it home from the edge of the area.

5 minutes from time, an unfortunate defender deflected Lily Beasley’s cross into her own net to wrap up the scoring for Weymouth.

Broadstone had continued to work tirelessly – chasing every ball and putting their bodies on the line in defence. They had also mounted a few attacks, and with the last action of the game, they would get on the scoresheet. It was a scrappy goal from Weymouth’s point of view as they failed to clear their lines before Gennery bundled the ball over the line to give her side something to cheer after a difficult afternoon.

In terms of the result and performance, Weymouth were at their scintillating best in the first half. The speed with which they moved the ball, the patterns of play and movement off the ball were an absolute joy to watch, and anyone in the league would have struggled to live with them.

But the Terras also deserve immense credit for the way in which they conducted themselves, particularly in the second half. Despite the scoreline there was never any hint of arrogance or showboating. They continued to play the game in the right spirit, and the same can be said of Broadstone who were an absolute credit to themselves, their club and to the league as a whole.

Weymouth will now look to take their goal scoring form and momentum forwards into a crucial game next Sunday when they host Poole Town Reserves.

Terras: Osment, Taylor, Whiting, de Havilland, B.Barnard-Irons, Sibley, Wilson, Beasley, Johnson, Ackerman, Howard.

Sub on: Sapsford.
