Michael Walker will be out to impress manager Geoff Butler when the Terras continue their warm-up programme against Horsham at the Wessex Stadium tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.
The former Spurs youngster returns to Radipole Lane following a run out for Portland United against Dorchester Reserves in midweek.
Butler said: “I know Michael’s not decided on where to play next season, but I obviously hoping it’s at Weymouth. He’s a talented youngster who has plenty of time ahead of him and tonight gives him the perfect opportunity to go out and show me what he’s made of. If the lad is as good as everyone says he is, he’s going to go a long way in the game. What I want to see from him is commitment to Weymouth Football Club. If he’s patient and works hard, his chance will come.”
The visit of the Sussex minnows has come about due to Butler’s friendship with manager John Maggs, who used to be in charge of Dr Martens Premier Division rivals Crawley Town.
“It’s a big game for them”, said Butler, “and it will be great to welcome John to the Wessex Stadium. If they are anything like his old Crawley sides then they’re going to be a tough nut to crack.”
Butler names the same squad that saw action at Poole Town on Wednesday with the only change being Walker replacing the holidaying Gary Funnell. Lee Phillips continues to struggle with an ankle injury and is unlikely to play.
Terras: Matthews, Bagnel, Kenway, S Browne, Bews, A Browne, Bradford, Bastafield, Dean, Harbut, Robinson, Tilley, Rawlinson, Hutchinson, Spencer, Laws, Walker.
