JASON Matthews has revealed he is exploring the possibility of adding further firepower to his squad in time for the Ridgeway derby with Dorchester Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Boxing Day.
The Weymouth boss was hit with an injury blow to frontman Ben Thomson in his side’s 1-1 draw at St Neots last Saturday.
Thomson was replaced by skipper Stewart Yetton at the weekend and is likely to be out for two to three weeks with a grade one hamstring tear.
Speaking about the possibility of bringing a forward in, the Terras’ boss told Echosport: “I feel that we may need a little bit of cover in the forward region and we have changed our system to a 4-4-2 which means we have to use more strikers.
“With Ben’s absence needs are a little more pressing. We have looked into a few options and they need to be right for us as a club and the person that is coming in.
“Up to now nothing has come to fruition but with Ben’s injury it is now more pressing, we can’t go into the Christmas period with just Stewart Yetton and Tim Sills as the only strikers at the club.”
Matthews also expressed his gratitude to the Wessex Fantasy Football competition, set up to boost his playing budget, for their assistance.
“This is where the Wessex Fantasy Football comes into play,” he added.
