Squad rotation an option for Jason Matthews

JASON Matthews insisted that he is more than happy to rotate the personnel in his squad, if he feels it will boost Weymouth’s approach to what is a critical run-in to the season.

The Terras’ boss brought back Jordan Copp and Billy Lowes to his starting XI during Monday night’s 1-0 win against Hungerford, the former crossed for Tim Sills to head the all-important winner.

On Copp’s inclusion, he told Echosport: “I left Jordan out the week before because I just felt it was the right thing to do.

“Having watched Hungerford, it gave me food for thought on how I wanted to beat them (with Copp) and it’s nice when it comes off.

“Jordan has done well and I feel that, probably, he has been a little bit unlucky this season but he has still played a good amount of games and he will still play a lot more games between now and the end of the season.”

He added: “From Billy’s point of view, I feel he has been outstanding this season.

“Although he probably wouldn’t admit it himself, I felt that he just needed to be taken out for a little breather.

“I knew when he was called on again he would be outstanding.

“We have got a good squad and it’s about rotating at the right times and picking teams to win games, as manager I need to do that.”
