JASON Matthews is once again set to cast his eye over trialist goalkeeper Dan Thomas when the Terras host a Bristol City development squad at the Bob Lucas Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

The Weymouth player-manager also hinted that all four trialists that featured against Exeter City on Friday are expected to play a part once again, including winger Dan Smith.

Strikers Ben Thomson, who has been struggling with a calf problem, and Stewart Yetton, who missed the opening friendly through illness, are also set to be involved.

Commenting on the goalkeeping situation, Matthews told Echosport: “I think it would only be fair to have another look at Dan (Thomas) after Friday night and he will play a part again.

“I’m not set to feature.”

Speaking ahead of the game with the Robins, Matthews added: “Obviously it was a good workout against Exeter on Friday night and it gave the boys a good little run out.

“I am hoping to see a little bit more of Ben Thomson and Stewart Yetton after illness and injury. Yetts had the weekend to get over his sinusitis so, hopefully, he will be back. He looks very fit.

“As for Thommo, he came through the last 20 minutes (against Exeter) unscathed, which is another plus point.”

The player-manager, who described ankle injuries suffered by new recruits Charlie Davis and Sam Jordan to be “nothing serious” added: “We are also hoping that Charlie will be fit and Sam went for treatment last night.

“At the moment it’s about players getting minutes under their belts.”
