GOALKEEPER Tom McHale admits he is “absolutely loving it” as part of the Terras’ set-up at present.

The young shot-stopper, who arrived on a two-month loan deal from Truro City in

December, has stamped his authority on the number one jersey since arriving at the

Bob Lucas Stadium with some top quality displays.

And, having also earned high praise from player-manager and fellow goalkeeper Jason Matthews last week, McHale expressed his thanks to his loan club for giving him the opportunity to showcase his talent.

Asked about his time as part of the Terras’ squad so far, he told Echosport: “I am absolutely loving it.

“I am obviously thankful to Weymouth for getting me in on loan. I knew a few of the lads anyway so I spoke to them beforehand to see what it was like.

“I know what they want to do and what they want to achieve, I don’t think the table tells about the team because these guys have a brilliant squad and it’s a real shame to be where we are in the league.”

He added: “For myself, I played quite a few games for Truro this season then it came to an end all of a sudden, which was a real shame because I thought I had found my feet.

“Now I am just delighted to be here (at Weymouth).

“Being a young keeper, a lot of people say it’s inexperience that is going to stop you playing. I have come in here and they have treated me as I’d like to be treated – as an adult.

“A lot of people think a loan is all about going for minutes and games but I am happy to be here and helping out.

“I said to the lads I am not just here for my sake, I am here to help them as well.”

McHale, who is expected to be in the Terras’ side that welcomes rock-bottom Cinderford Town to the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday (3pm), also revealed he would be happy to extend his stay at Weymouth.

“I have spoken to Jase a couple of times about extending and I have spoken to the Truro manager as well. Jase is happy to keep me on and I am happy to stay,” he added.

“I am here until mid February and, similar to a lot of players that go out on loan, I don’t want to be sat on the bench.”
