RINGWOOD TOWN 1

WEYMOUTH RES 2

A CONOR Jevon brace was enough to secure a pleasing 2-1 victory for Weymouth Reserves against Ringwood Town.

It was the visitors who had the first real opportunity with Jevon going close early on, before Ringwood got the first goal of the afternoon.

A long ball over the from the defender caused some confusion between goalkeeper Ashley Weeks and his defence, allowing the striker time to intercept the play and finished well.

As Weymouth grew into the game, some excellent play from Morgan Turner led to an excellent through ball to Jevon who showed real composure to go round the keeper and slide the ball home from a tight angle.

Sam Jackson saw red shortly before half-time for violent conduct, but this didn’t stop Weymouth who were beginning to dominate.

Jevon got his second of the game early in the second half as a long ball forward found the striker who finished with ease to double his side’s lead.

The Terras had three or four other chances to extend their lead in the second half, but manager Bradley Asagba couldn’t fault his side’s display.

He said: “It was a fair result. The only thing I’d say is that maybe we should have scored three or four as over the course of the game we had eight or nine chances compared to their two or three.

“In terms of the victory, I don’t think there was any question that we deserved it.”

Asagba then went on to praise the attacking talent that his side has at their disposal.

He said: “What we have is three or four players who can make a real difference at this level.

“You only have to look at the league table to see that we’ve got winners and it’s clear that Conor is an outstanding forward and a goalscorer.

It’s handy to have these players, but our problem is having enough of our better players on the pitch at the same time, but Conor is an exceptional footballer.

“He’s got the ability to turn a game with individual moments. Some forwards need chances creating for them but he can turn a game by himself and make things happen out of nothing.

“He can still do more and he’s far from the finished product but for us since he’s been back with us there’s no doubt that his form has been sensational and we’re delighted with him.”

Terras: Weeks, Carrington, Butcher,Frampton, Michie, Panesar-Dower (Ayley 84), Will, Gape, Jackson Turner (K Borowski 68), Jevon (G Borowski)
