Twenty-eight pupils from All Saints School spent the day at the BLS today on a football coaching course.
The group of 12 and 13-year-olds were taking part in the school’s Alternative Learning Experience programme, which enables students to participate in activities in and out of school to enrich their learning.
After listening to a potted history of the club and being shown round the ground, the children took part in a coaching session with assistant manager Paul Maitland, designed to get the children thinking as well as honing their skills.
After lunch in the cafe and a quiz, it was time for a mini tournament, with the winning captain being presented with a trophy.
General manager Liz Bell said, “This is the first such event that we’ve had at the club and it was a great success.
“The children were a credit to themselves and their school with their behaviour and attitude. At the end, they were all saying how much they enjoyed the day so hopefully we’ll see lots of them coming to cheer on the Terras in the future.
“Thankyou so much to Paul Maitland for what was an absolutely fantastic coaching day.
“I hope this is just the start of the club getting out and engaging with the children in our local schools.”
