WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley felt the Terras were “worthy of the win” against Merthyr Town after Brandon Goodship’s hat-trick gave his side a 3-2 victory at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
After Weymouth’s fifth Evo-Stik Southern League Premier triumph in five games, Molesley was pleased to reward the Terras’ faithful for turning out in driving rain with an “entertaining” game.
He told Echosport: “It was another good night at the Bob Lucas.
“I thought we were good and I thought we were worthy of the win against a good Merthyr side.
“It was an entertaining game. I think everyone got their money’s worth for coming out in the rain and not watching the Champions League.
“I think they were rewarded with a good game and two good sides, so it was a good night.”
And Molesley was delighted by Goodship’s treble, adding that the Terras’ service to him has enabled the striker to plunder eight goals in his past five matches.
He said: “We always knew Brandon would score goals, it’s just about getting him in the right areas at the right time.
“I think we’ve done that and he’s shown his quality.
“But there were a lot of stand-out performances. I think collectively as a team we were fantastic.
“We made some good chances for him. We knew if we made the chances we’ve got some good quality in the side to put them away.”
