FACING Totton will be a chance to bounce back after defeat to Slough Town says Weymouth boss Mark Molesley, as he looks ahead to tonight’s BigFreeBet.com Challenge Cup encounter at the Total Branding Community Stadium (7.45pm).

Weymouth lost 3-0 away to Slough Town in a tough defeat that saw them 2-0 down at half time before an improved second half saw them caught on the counter for the home side’s third.

The Terras’ boss said after the match: “After a defeat you’re always going to be hurting so it’s important to bounce back as quickly as we can. So we will be looking for a reaction immediately.”

The match saw the debut of new signing James Hayter, who was announced to have joined on a one month loan from Havant and Waterlooville on Friday.

The second round match against Totton was originally supposed to go ahead on Tuesday, November 7 but wet weather forced it to be rearranged.

Molesley is not looking at the match in the context of the league, saying: “I think the game is a game in isolation, it’s a cup game. It’s a chance for us to get plenty of minutes into people but there won’t be too many drastic changes I don’t think.”

Molesley added: “We want to get some momentum, especially after a defeat we want to make sure we equalise on that pretty quickly.”

Ashley Wells will miss the game with an injury sustained at home against Tiverton Town while Brandon Goodship and Calvin Brooks are still out for the Terras, and Harry Baker will serve a one match ban.

Assistant manager Paul Maitland said the team are looking forward to the match against Totton, as he said: “Totton are obviously on a good run they won again today so it will be a stern test but one we will look forward to.”

Prior to the Terras’ two matches against Kings Langley and Tiverton Town they had three consecutive matches away, and the match against Totton is their second consecutive away match since.

After the Totton match the Terras face league matches against Biggleswade Town and Basingstoke Town, who are currently 15th and 16th in the table respectively.

Maitland said: “Unfortunately it is another game on the road. We’ve got two big league games coming up on the Saturday and the following Tuesday. So games are coming thick and fast and we will have to manage the squad accordingly.”
