BRANDON Goodship is pleased with the Terras’ current position and says the squad are only getting better and better as he reflects on his first half season at Weymouth.
Goodship has 17 league goals for the Terras this season and scored in his first match for the club, a friendly against his former side Yeovil.
Goodship said: “It has been great, I think we are in a really healthy position, personally I think I have done quite well, as a team I think we are really coming along.
“We are only getting better and better as each week and month goes by so hopefully that continues.”
He has scored four goals in his past two games, and six since he made his first appearance since injury against Biggleswade Town in late November.
Speaking of his current form Goodship said: “I have been happy with my performances and obviously I pride myself on scoring goals and thankfully in the last few games I have been doing that.
“Hopefully that will continue with the results as well.”
In the Ridgeway derby on Boxing Day Goodship, along with Charlie Davis, scored as the Terras let a 2-0 lead slip at home to draw 2-2.
Goodship said: “We weren’t at our best, we were quite poor on the day but we found ourselves 2-0 up and unfortunately we couldn’t hold onto that lead.
He admitted: “We were quite naive in thinking that we would just go onto win that game. It was bitterly disappointing for us but we are working already to put that right on New Years Day.”
The Terras went the whole of December unbeaten as they picked up three wins and a draw and are currently third in the table with 51 points after 25 games.
Speaking about their form through December, Goodship said: “I felt that the results we had were really good, bar the derby I thought that all our results were quite positive and we have deserved to do well.
“To be unbeaten in a month is a good achievement but that is gone now, we are working for the next few games to make sure them results are positive for us.”
Looking ahead to their match against Gosport Borough on New Year’s Day, Goodship thinks there is a good feeling in the squad ahead of the match, saying: “There is a good spirit within the team we have trained well and done our homework on them so hopefully we are prepped the right way and we can get the three points.”
He added: “Hopefully we can make the travelling worth it for ourselves and for the fans.”
Goodship feels that this spirit has helped them do well this season, saying: “There is a good group of lads and we all get on off the pitch so that obviously helps, there is a good feel factor in the dressing room and that is probably a large factor as to why we have done so well this season.”
