WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley insists that nothing was won or lost as his side slipped to a 2-0 defeat away to play-off rivals Kettering Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.
A first-half brace from Brett Solkhon condemned the Terras to defeat, which ended a seven game unbeaten streak.
Molesley said: “We will move on. Nothing was won or lost here and when we lose, we learn and we have done that here.”
A quick start from the Poppies saw Solkhon dispatch a penalty in the 11th minute after Thiago Caze Da Silva had brought down Matthew Stevens.
Molesley had no complaints about the penalty however, as he said: “It was probably a penalty, we did not deal with the first ball very well at all and we just got caught in a bit of a muddle.
“It was a shame it was a bit of a scruffy start., I just felt we needed to weather the first half and get used to it and play our way into the game.”
Weymouth were sent further behind when Solkhon again scored when a Rhys Hoenes cross found its way to him before he lashed home.
The Terras had a better second half as they began creating more chances but could not find a way past Paul White in the Poppies’ goal.
Molesley said: “We did not do enough in the game but then again I do not think either goalkeeper had too many saves to make.
“It was always going to be a game won on set pieces or mistakes on a pitch like that.”
Despite late efforts Weymouth could not find a route back into the match.
The result sees the Terras stay fourth in the table, three points behind Kettering Town in third and the two sides could face again in the play-off semi-final on Wednesday, May 2.
When asked if it was playing on their minds Molesley said: “No, not at all. We take each game as it comes, we wanted to come here to win the game but that did not happen and we are bitterly disappointed.”
Weymouth now face Kings Langley on Saturday (3pm) in their second away trip in three days and their future opponents are currently 21st in the table with 38 points.
Commenting on the tight turn around for the matches Molesley said: “That is the nature of the beast.
“It is what it is, we have just got to get on with it now and we turn our attention to another big game for us.
“We want to restore some confidence.”
