WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley admitted he “would have bitten your hand off for that” after he saw his side complete back-to-back 5-0 wins with a derby victory over Dorchester on Monday in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.
The triumph saw Josh McQuoid score twice, with a Ben Thomson brace and a Brandon Goodship goal securing the spoils after the Terras had beaten Chesham United 5-0 two days earlier.
Molesley said: “We have looked at all of our players, all of them have had minutes. We have scored 10 goals, we have had two clean sheets so I would have bitten your hand off for that at the start of the weekend. Six points and two clean sheets, I am very pleased.”
The victory at Chesham was equally dominant, with Goodship bagging a hat-trick with Thomson and Zubar completing the scoring.
However, Molesley insisted his side are not the finished article when asked how he will pick holes in the two performances.
Molesley said: “We will analyse both games. We are by no means the finished article.
“We have got to keep working hard to try and be better each time. Every week throws a different type of challenge at you in this league, different pitches, different teams, different styles.”
The victory over Dorchester also saw the return of Jordan Ngalo from off the bench, after he suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 defeat to Bath City during pre-season.
Molesley praised Ngalo for recovering faster than Weymouth had expected and says he feels Ngalo has got a big future ahead of him.
Molesley said: “Again another player that has worked hard in pre-season, we feel that he has got a really big future ahead of him.
“He unfortunately picked up a hamstring issue when he came on in a friendly here against Bath City and he recovered a lot quicker than we thought he would.
“He has worked hard the last two weeks to come back to fitness so to get him on the pitch again we have accelerated his return as well to play him.
“He also came on and played a new position which shows that he can be versatile as well so all in all it has been a great weekend.”
Molesley added: “As long as everyone is showing the right attitude and the right work ethic I feel that we have got a really good group.”
McQuoid got off the mark for Weymouth with his first two goals for the club, as well as proving a brilliant threat down the left-hand side for the Terras against Dorchester.
Molesley admitted the club is lucky to have the former Bournemouth man, where he played alongside Molesley, at the club.
Molesley said: “I think Josh’s performances are just getting bigger and stronger.
“He is getting fitter. He is another one who missed a lot of pre-season.
“So again to get the minutes and the output out of him was just fantastic.
“Not only has he deserved his two goals but his assists and his work rate as well.
“Everyone knows what a great player he is and how lucky we are to have him here.
“I think what has probably surprised a few people is just how hard he works.
“For someone who has had an illustrious career he is really showing everyone why you have a career like that and it is through hard work and a good attitude.”
Molesley insisted the focus is on the next game, where the Terras travel to Farnborough on Saturday.
Molesley said: “We are ticking along at the moment but feet firmly on the floor, lots of work to do and a long way to go and we turn our attentions to the next game.”
