MARK Molesley bemoaned a “slow start” as Weymouth fell to their first league defeat at home in 411 days with a 3-1 loss to Gosport Borough at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Goals from Craig McAllister, ex-Magpie Sam Lanahan and Ryan Pennery ensured Weymouth fell to a rare defeat at home in league trim.

Molesley said: “We were sloppy, it was a bit of a slow start from ourselves. We never really imposed ourselves quick enough on them which I was really disappointed with.

“We sort of had a hangover from that bad start for the rest of the game really.”

Molesley admitted it was raw after the match, with the Terras nearly having gone 14 months without defeat at home.

Molesley said: “It is quite raw at the moment. Fourteen months is a long time, the run was always eventually going to come to an end at some point. The manner it came to an end we are obviously disappointed in.

“There were phases and times in it where we were thinking ‘Oh here we go, we are clicking back in here’ but we still had, I think, 14 shots and 16 corners.

“So we still created enough opportunities in and around their goal but never really made them clear-cut.

“Gosport, you saw, worked their socks off. They made it really difficult for us and fair play to them.”
