Weymouth started September with their first defeat of the season, despite leading 1-3 at Farnborough the Terras were unfortunate to fall to a 4-3 defeat. First-half goals from Thomson, Baggie and Zubar looked to have put Weymouth in a strong position, but a late fight-back from Farnborough saw them take the three points.
Mark Molesley described the result as a reality check for his side, whilst Stephane Zubar called on the Terras had to remain positive after their start to the season.
On 4th September Harry Baker joined Frome Town on a month long loan deal as he looked to get more game time.
Weymouth drew their FA Cup first qualifying round fixture at the Bob Lucas Stadium with Banbury United 1-1, Baggie gave the Terras the lead in the first-half but Banbury United equalised to set up a replay. The Puritans proved to be too strong for Weymouth in the replay, the Terras were knocked out after a 2-1 defeat. Josh McQuoid picked up an injury at Banbury which would see him out of action until April.
After the FA Cup defeat Molesley said that the league must now be his side’s sole focus from now on.
On 15th September, promising centre-back Sam Sherring joined the Terras from AFC Bournemouth in a loan move. Sam went straight into the squad to face Hartley Wintney.
Hartley Wintney looked like they were going to leave the Bob Lucas Stadium with a shock thee points when they took a 2-0 lead, but a late goal from Warren Bentley rescued a point for Weymouth. After the game Molesley admitted that his side were going through a sticky spell. Sam Sherring impressed on his debut as a late substitute.
Weymouth had a week break as the next weekend was reserved for FA Cup action, but Molesley too time to remind everybody, that the despite the Terras already sitting top of the table, the season is a marathon not a sprint.
Weymouth drew Wimborne Town in the Southern League Challenge Cup.
Before the end of the month it was announced that Harry Baker’s loan spell at Frome Town had been extended by a month. Tom Prodomo praised Harry Baker‘s first class attitude during this loan spell.
On 27th September Weymouth announced that Calvin Brooks had rejoined the squad. Also, Ashley Wells gave an in depth interview with theterras.com describing the current period as the most enjoyable spell at his boyhood club.
Weymouth finished the month with a confidence boosting 1-4 win away to Staines Town, 2 goals from Zubar and one each from McCarthy and Goodship, saw Weymouth come from behind. Calvin Brooks came off the bench for the Terras to make his first appearance since returning. Molesley was delighted with the way his side fought back to win.
