JOSH Carmichael admitted ‘it is a shame it has come to how it has come to’ but says his time at Weymouth was positive, after the midfielder reflected on his time at the Bob Lucas Stadium following his move to Poole Town.
The midfielder spent two seasons at the Terras before his move to the Dolphins, which was announced at the same time as Terras’ striker Harry Baker also moving to Poole.
When asked how he looks back on his time at the Bob Lucas Stadium, Carmichael replied: “Absolutely definitely it is a positive thing, I enjoyed it on the whole.
“I think obviously I said it before the last season was not, from a personal point of view, a successful one, but when it comes to the end of it and we are league champions it is definitely a positive and successful season.
“So it is a shame it has come to how it has come to but all round I can’t complain.”
When asked what moments stick out for him during his time at the Terras, Carmichael highlighted Baker’s winning goal in the 4-3 victory at Salisbury as well as the final league win over Farnborough that secured the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South title.
Carmichael, discussing the stand out moments, said: “Harry Baker’s winner at Salisbury, even in the last (league) game, with Brandon (Goodship) scoring the second goal I think after that second goal went in I think we all knew that that was it, that was the moment done.
“The season before that there were a few games that I really enjoyed, Slough at home (a 1-0 victory), I really enjoyed that. Probably those three moments in my head are the first ones that come to me”
When asked how his move to Poole came about Carmichael admitted the move was ‘kind of a no brainer’ and says it is definitely a positive move for him.
Carmichael said: “The manager got hold of me, expressed his interest, we met up a couple of days later and we had a chat about everything and I liked what he had to say, I think it is definitely a positive move as well.
“We are going to be hopefully looking to push for promotion and be one of the better teams in the league so for me it was kind of a no brainer in the end.”
Carmichael will be joined at Poole by Baker, and their moves to Poole were announced at the same time by the Dolphins.
However, Carmichael was not sure what Baker was going to do, but is happy to see him also make the move.
Carmichael said: “Definitely, I had heard a few things. I was not sure actually what Harry was going to do but when I heard he actually had signed for Poole I was very happy because he is a great lad.
“He will always score goals no matter where he is, no matter how long he plays in the game he is going to get you a goal. I was very happy to see he had signed.”
