Tuesday evening saw 1600+ fans arrive in their masses at the Bob Lucas Stadium for the first home game of the season, writes David Miller. All full of hope and enthusiasm off the back of the previous season after being crowned champions of the Southern Premier League South and being promoted up a league to the Vanarama National League South.

Rewind three days and the Terras won their first game of the new season away to Maidstone Utd in true come back fashion. Fighting from one nil down in the first half to pummelling Maidstone into submission sealing a 2-1 victory in the second half thanks to a brace from Ben Thomson.

Fast forward three days and the reality soon hit. The sun was setting behind the Bob Lucas Stadium and was casting shadows onto the pitch mimicking the realisation on just how tough life in this higher league is going to be. Bath City were showcasing a solid backline which was increasingly frustrating for the Terras as the game went on. The level of football on display was a step up from last season and it was there for all of us to witness. The Terras looked dangerous on the counter and looked a more physical and powerful side than last season out muscling Bath City. This was encouraging for all the fans to see!

The game finished 1-1 which felt a little underwhelming but given the first game victory taking 4 points from a possible 6 is a good return leaving most fans feeling optimistic.

What we must do is get behind Mark Molesley and his team. We are in an experimental period in which we are trying to find a solution to be successful in this league.

Next up is Chelmsford City at home on Saturday! Lets show them we are a unit and have some of the best fans around!
