Match Preview
Weymouth take on National League Dover Athletic on Saturday, in what is an eagerly anticipated Emirates FA Cup clash at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Most people would have been listening to John Motson and Danny Murphy conduct the draw for this round of the Cup. I’m sure I speak on behalf of all Terras fans that there was a collective sigh of relief when we were handed a home tie.
Clearly, this will be a tough test for Mark Molesley’s men against a well-established team and a club that we have met on many occasions over the years. We’ve all grown up watching the FA Cup and it is such an exciting competition to be part of. The winners of this tie will land themselves a place in the First Round of the competition.
Weymouth have already made nearly £18,000 in the FA Cup this season after dismissing Sholing and St Albans City in the previous rounds. The Terras come into this mouthwatering clash eight games unbeaten. Dover come into the game in mixed form and their most recent game on the road ended with a 4-0 defeat at Aldershot, however, their away form has been good before that game. They’ve won 6 and lost 2 away from home all campaign – at home, they have won a solitary game, losing 4 and drawing 3. The Whites were scheduled to take on Barrow last Saturday but unfortunate events on the train line meant that they were delayed when travelling up north.
Thoughts from the Manager
“It’s a game to look forward to and we know we need to be at our best. It promises to be a big crowd at the Bob Lucas and we like those occasions. The crowd will definitely play it’s part as it always does.”
