Match Preview

It’s back on the road again for Weymouth as they make the midweek trip to Eastbourne.

It’s a quick turnaround for both sides for this rearranged game after Weymouth’s success in the FA Cup. Both teams picked up good results at the weekend as the Terras beat Braintree Town 3-0 at the Bob Lucas Stadium, meanwhile, the Sports gained a very credible point away at Hemel Hempstead Town.

Our hosts announced some difficulties off the pitch last week. This seemed to coincide with the departure of manager Lee Bradbury and Eastbourne are looking for a new manager while experienced player Sergio Torres takes the reigns on a caretaker basis. It has been a tricky first fourteen games for Eastbourne, they have picked up just 3 wins in those games and currently sit 4 points above the relegation zone. However, there have been some impressive results in those games with the Sports picking up away points at the likes of Hemel, Havant and Bath.

The Terras continue to impress and after the weekend, Mark Molesley’s team sit fourth and unbeaten in seven league games. Last time out on the road, Weymouth picked up a point against Dulwich Hamlet at a packed out Champion Hill.

Thoughts from the Manager

The games come thick and fast, this game was rearranged due to our FA Cup game so we’ll have to travel there on a Tuesday night. We’ll have to dust ourselves down, rest ourselves up and put our best foot forward for Tuesday. It’s another tough challenge and I’m sure a slightly different team and down on astroturf, so plenty of variables but all we can control is the way we recover now before the game and how the players prepare ready for Tuesday.”
