Match Preview

Weymouth travel to Park View Road to take on Welling United today in the Vanarama National League South.

Football can be a cruel mistress for everyone at times and on New Year’s Day that was very much the case for the Terras. Weymouth will feel that they deserved at least a point against a very good and experienced Havant team on the day but they will have the opportunity to use that fuel for their fire when they visit Welling.

Welling come into the game in bad form and they have had a slide down the table and sit two points above the relegation zone. They will be looking for an improvement on Saturday. Weymouth will be looking to get back to winning ways at Park View Road. In a previous meeting earlier in the season, the Terras picked up a 1-0 win against the Wings at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Thoughts from the Manager

“We’ve got no time for disappointment, we’ve got to learn the lessons, move on and continually strive to improve. There’s no easy game, they’re at the bottom and Welling have been in the play-offs last year, so they know this league. They’ve got good players who’ve been proven (at this level) and they’re going to be fighting tooth and nail. We’ve got to match that and what they throw at us, and throw our game onto them as well.”
