Match Preview
5th placed Weymouth take on 6th placed Dorking Wanderers at the Bob Lucas Stadium in what could be an important game in the Vanarama National League South.
The Terras have had a good week in the buildup to this game after getting 3 points at Concord as well progression to the final of the Dorset Senior Cup on Tuesday. Weymouth will be hopeful of continuing their good home form against their fellow promotion contenders.
Dorking beat the Terras back in December as they ended Weymouth’s long unbeaten run. Will that result last month provide any extra motivation for Mark Molesley’s team? Perhaps. Wanderers have had a dip in form in the league of late but they have picked up a famous win away at Stockport County in the FA Trophy.
The play-off and promotion race is really starting to get tasty. Tomorrow is 5th vs 6th and although there is still a long way to go, it could be games like this that end up making the difference at the end of the season.
Josh McQuoid (hamstring), Calvin Brooks (ankle) and Cameron Murray (shin and ankle) are out. Jack Hoey is due to see a specialist regarding his broken arm but Weymouth are hopeful that he will be signed off to return very soon. Midfielder Tom Whelan has extended his loan from Yeovil by a further month.
Thoughts from the Manager with the Dorset Echo
“Our home form is always something we’ve prided ourselves on. We’ve had a little dent in it lately but we’ve picked up some points on the road and now it’s bringing that together. Our home record is formidable, but Dorking are going to present a really tough challenge – we’ll have to be at our best.”
