WEYMOUTH striker Cody Cooke is relishing a return to action as the Terras visit AFC Totton for their first pre-season friendly tonight (7.45pm).
Cooke joined Weymouth after his release from St Mirren this summer and could make his debut in front of up to 600 supporters under FA guidelines on capped attendances during lockdown.
Due to playing in Step 1 of the National League System, Weymouth are classed as playing elite sport and cannot yet welcome supporters to the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Step 4 Totton, however, are allowed a maximum of 400 fans at Snows Stadium as they enter Stage 2 of spectators’ return to football.
Speaking to uptheterras.co.uk he said: “It’s been a long time since kicking a ball around competitively and then with fans around.
“When it’s safe to do so, and with the guidelines Weymouth will have to follow, they’ll be more than welcome and it will be a big season for the fans to come through the gates.
“It’s going to be new teams and experiences for all of them – it attracts more numbers to come and have a look at those big clubs.
“It will be great to come and meet (the fans), whenever that is.”
