Weymouth welcome Woking to the Bob Lucas Stadium this evening, live on theterras.online and BBC Radio Solent.
The fixture will be the Terras first home game in the fifth tier of English football for eleven years and follows on from their 0-0 draw with Altrincham on Saturday.
This will be Woking’s first away game of the season, coming back from 1-0 down to beat Solihull Moors last Saturday. The Surrey based side finished tenth in the Vanarama National League last season, but could have pushed for a place in the play-off spots, had the league not have been brought to a halt by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
The Terras will have to be wary of Matt Jarvis. The former Wolverhampton and West Ham United midfielder has played just twice for Woking, but did score on his debut last season.
Charlie Cooper will be looking to cause trouble for Weymouth. The midfielder has a wealth of experience in the National League, gaining promotion with Forest Green Rovers in 2017, as well as helping Halifax to the play-offs last season.
Weymouth’s last league meeting with Tuesday’s opposition was the final match day of the 2009-10 season. It was a day to forget for the Terras, as they lost 4-0 away. Their last home meeting, earlier that season, was a tight 0-0 draw. Despite the experience the Woking squad possess, Brian Stock’s side will look to make an impression in the league with a victory.
Thoughts from the manager
When speaking to uptheterras.co.uk, Stock was already preparing for the quick turnover of the national league, stating that he was doing his homework on the way home from the game at Altrincham.
Stock again praised his options in the run up to Tuesday’s game highlighting the central midfield position, saying there was “very good competition for places.” The Terras boss said Jordan Ngalo, despite not making the bench was in his “thoughts to start.”
