The Terras play host to Sutton United in their second consecutive home game at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday.
Brian Stock’s side will look to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Woking, being edged out by the Cards 1-0 in a tough contest.
Sutton United sit in second place and are unbeaten in the Vanarama National League, albeit with only two fixtures of this season played out. The U’s ran out 2-1 winners against Aldershot Town on Tuesday but needed some luck late on with an eighty fifth minute winner, courtesy of an own goal by the Shots.
The Terras will need to get passed Sutton goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis. The thirty year old former Liverpool goalkeeper spent last season playing for Melbourne City in Australia’s A League and has conceded just one goal during his tenure so far.
Sutton possess firepower up front in the form of their number nine, Omar Bugiel. The striker is an international for Lebanon, and has scored once for his country in a 1-0 win over Oman in 2018. So far the finisher has one goal this season.
Weymouth’s last league clash against todays opponent was fourteen years ago during their promotion campaign to the Conference Premier. The Terras ran out 3-0 winners at Gander Green Lane, winning 3-1 at home earlier in the season.
Despite losing 1-0 to Woking, Stock’s men will look to make amends with this. One would feel that a goal will go a long way in the confidence of the side, and have been unlucky not to net in their first two games.
Thoughts from the manager
When speaking to uptheterras.co.uk, Stock was adamant that his side should not look into the last two results with concern, and focus on the games ahead instead. “We have to dust ourselves down, remain confident.” The Terras boss hopes to have Corey Jordan and Myles Anderson fit. The boss will be without four first team players who are self isolating under government guidance with Coronavirus.
