We caught up with Sam Conway of Nova Builders. Nova Builders have been our away shirt sponsors since 2019 and also have a sponsorship board at The Bob Lucas Stadium.
Can you tell us a little bit about Nova Builders?
We’ve been trading as Nova builders for 2 years. I didn’t work properly for a couple of years before that as I was diagnosed with lung cancer and SSL, so underwent a lot of treatments very quickly.
I’ve worked in the building and carpentry industry for 20 years, starting in re-claimed oak houses.
At Nova Builders we specialise in new build property developments and we also offer a range of other services to help make your house a home.
What made you decide to sponsor The Terras?
I’ve been lucky to have been really well looked after by the local NHS. So when I was asked about the sponsorship it felt right to give something back to the local community. I also manage the Under 8’s youth team.
What do you think about the colour of the away shirt?
It definitely helps us to get the name of Nova Builders noticed and it’s builders yellow so it definitely goes well with us!
In normal times how often do you get along to the Bob Lucas Stadium?
I take my son, James, to most home games and he loves it! His favourite player is Ashley Wells. He was mascot for a game a few years ago and loved meeting him.
We’ve had a couple of our best performances in the Nova Builders kit this season, including away wins at Stockport County and Aldershot. As a fan it must have been great to see the team winning in the shirt with your company’s name on?
Got to love beating Stockport and getting a win at the Rec is decent. I loved seeing the Nova Builders yellow kit being worn at both these games!
What’s the most interesting building project you’ve been involved with?
I’ve been lucky to be involved in a few reclaimed oak framed houses when I was younger and the Saville Gardens Visitor Centre. I’m also doing a little project at the Bob Lucas Stadium currently.
What are your hopes and expectations for the future at the club?
I think the club’s had some serious success of late and after a tricky start to the season Brian and his team are doing awesome.
I reckon the future’s bright, it’ll be hard but after talking to Brian he’s impressed me. With a good pre-season and a few of his own additions I’m sure we’ll have a great next season.
Which player do you think would be able to put in a decent day’s work on a building site?
I’ve had Zubar on a job and will work with him again. For the current players it’s got to be Ben Thomson, the lad’s a grafter!
