Weymouth FC are saddened to learn of the passing of our former manager Len Ashurst at the age of 82.

Ashurst was manager of The Terras between December 1992 and April 1993, taking charge of 27 Southern League games in total, before being replaced by Bill Caldwell.

Born on 10 March 1939, Ashurst made his name as a full back at Sunderland where he played 458 games, making him the club’s record appearance maker for an outfielder.

Ashurst’s managerial career saw him take charge of Sunderland, Hartlepool, Gillingham, Sheffield Wednesday, Newport, Cardiff City, Al-Wakrah and Pahang.

The thoughts of everyone at Weymouth Football Club are with Len’s family and friends at this time.
