Match Preview: Cheshunt (H) – Saturday 3rd December 2022 – 15:00

The Terras are back home at the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow afternoon, searching for a win that would not only make it three leagues in a row, but would push Weymouth off the foot of the table.

We also face Cheshunt for the first time in our history tomorrow afternoon!

Here’s what manager Bobby Wilkinson had to say ahead of tomorrow’s game:

On preparations: “This is probably the best week we’ve had togetherness wise, amongst us there is lots of energy, hardwork and the belief that we’re a good side. That’s only the case if we can keep standards high and show that level of consistency. But it’s very good, the mood around the lads, there is a good vibe.”

On the magnitude of tomorrow’s game: “We’re going into this one as it’s another game. Despite the table, there are 87 points up for grabs. It’s time to turn up every week. It doesn’t matter if the opponent is second from bottom or top, we have to be prepared each week to win a game. Of course it’s a big game as a win means this good run keeps going, but as far as we’re concerned, it’s just another 3 points to take.”

On Cheshunt: “Cheshunt usually line up in a 3-5-2, they have two good strikers with lots of energy. It’s obvious that they will look to win this, it’s a big game for them like it is for us. They’ve been able to contest against the bottom sides, including at Chippenham coming back to win 3-2. As for us, it’s just a case of can we keep our own momentum going, show that belief, stand up and be counted. This group is a special one to be part of that’s for sure with the attitude and desire. So there’s no excuses whatsoever now, we have the belief among us, it’s time to put that on the pitch regularly.”

On any further team news: “We’re hopefully looking to get a couple over the line, they will be midfielders the one’s we’ve been able to get in. We haven’t been able to recruit exactly where we want to, which is defensively. We are working hard behind the scenes, around the clock, to bring some defenders in, but so far the one’s we’ve seen are not the right fit yet, we need the right ones in. For sure we need the numbers because again we’re going to have to play players out of position. Our fingers are crossed though that hopefully, if paperwork is finalised, that we can bring in a few more soon.”
