Weymouth FC players Tom Bearwish, Harrison Bruton and Charlie Wilson visited local primary schools last week to highlight the importance of reading.

Harrison and Charlie were joined by Weymouth FC Community Football Officer, Paul Tapper and led an assembly at Portesham Primary School. Later in the week Tom Bearwish joined Harrison and Paul to lead an assembly at the Atlantic Academy, Portland.

In addition the group led training sessions at Bincombe Valley Primary School and Wyke Infants School. This week Weymouth FC will be highlighting the importance of reading to children at St Nicholas & St Laurence Primary School.

As part of our support of the Chesil Reading Project players from our men’s and women’s teams will be visiting local schools to promote the importance of reading and its value to academic achievement.

Our partnership will also provide various incentives for the children who achieve reading goals such as: coaching sessions, matchday tickets, stadium tours and the opportunity to be a mascot for a home game.
