Weymouth Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Dan Matsuzaka on a one-year deal, subject to FA and league approval.

24 year-old Matsuzaka joins the Terras from David Oldfield’s former side Oxford City, where he spent two seasons at the Hoops. Matsuzaka started his career at Southend United and was sent out on loan to Harlow Town in 2014. In 2018, Matsuzaka joined Japanese side Kataller Toyama, where he spent half a season, before joining National League South side Braintree in January 2019. Dan also spent time at then National League Sutton United in 2019, before re-joining Braintree up until the summer of 2020 and then made the move to Oxford City.

Dan Matsuzaka also made appearances for Japan’s U18s side during his early career, eligible for the Japan National Team through his Japanese father.

David Oldfield: “We are delighted to welcome Dan to the club. A player with commitment and a desire to defend, he joins a growing group who are working hard in pre-season. Dan demonstrates the character and quality that can help us move us forward as a club. Welcome to Weymouth FC!”

Everybody at Weymouth Football Club would like to welcome Dan to the club and wish him every success for the forthcoming season.
