Ben Thomson spoke to us following the announcement that he would return home to Weymouth.

On how it feels to be back home: “It’s great to come back home, Weymouth is my club and Weymouth is where my heart is, so I’m really pleased to be back. I’m hoping I can contribute to getting more points on the board, it’s as simple as that really – it’s exactly what we need! Substitute or starting, I’ll be getting round all the lads, all the staff and making sure we come together and get the points on the board.”

On the connection with the fans: “I’ve always had a great connection with the fans. I’ve always been welcomed, supported and backed. It’s one of the main reasons why my time has been so special at Weymouth and was a huge factor in me coming back to the club. I’ve had an amazing career at Weymouth and achieved a lot and am hoping to continue that!”

On what he can contribute this season: “I’ve been in dog fights and had promotions. Top of the league or bottom of the league we’ve got a job to do as a team now, so it’s a good challenge and something I’m really looking forward to.”

On how we can get ourselves up the table: “I think without doubt we will move up the table. I know a lot of the lads already and there’s some really good quality in the team. I think that will always shine through and we’ll put in performances that will see us climb up the league. I’ve had a great chat with Bobby and he’s definitely the man to take us there. If we all stick together, players, staff and fans, it’ll happen.”
